Phi Phi Islands day 3
Mel fancied a lie in, and as it was slightly overcast, I decided to go for a hike to see all 3 viewpoints on the island, so grabbed a bottle of water and off I went. Wow, was it humid…I was absolutely drenched 10 minutes in and about 3km to go. Uphill. Took about an hour to get to checkpoint 3 via road and jungle. Stunning views and a 20 Baht entrance fee. Then the short 0.5k drop to checkpoint 2 which was lovely too. Then another 2.5km walk back down and then 350 steps up to checkpoint 1. I was dying by this point but couldn’t let it beat me. 50 baht entrance to this one (cynically milk the tourist as this is the easiest in isolation). Walked down dripping, literally wringing clothes out and went for a light lunch at Garlic restaurant. Had a Panang curry which was gorgeous and a couple of Lipton lemon teas. Had a walk across the beach in the day for a few beers listening to music and a swim. Met up with Mel later on for a couple of cocktails at the Boathouse gardens and then we went out to watch the fire show spectacle. Then went for tea - I had a yellow curry and Mel had some kind for rice dish and asked for fries but it came with a fried egg on instead - it seemed to work. We then watched some Muay Thai boxing at the stadium with a cocktail and headed for bed.
