Started the day with coffee and a HUGE breakfast at On The Beach cafe on the main stretch, far too much even for me. Then headed for the first beach day of the holiday, yippeeee! Kamala Beach is a beautiful clean, full yet relaxing beach, and we spent all day there until the sun went down. It was an Instagrammers delight..and there were plenty of them present with their tripods, thongs, and plastic bits wilting in the tropical sun. At night ventured into the small town, had a drink at Danny’s Place that served the beer in a glass with a huge ice cube…near the end the beer was at Skol ABV levels, terrible. We made a beeline for the Smile bar for dinner which had great reviews but was a little pricey shall we say. The food was a delight - spring rolls and chicken Satay starters for both and a spaghetti and bacon dish similar to a Carbonara without  the cream for me and 1/2 chicken for Mel from the spit with garlic bread to share. All lovely but damn expensive at around £63 ( including 2 large beers and 2 wines and a cheeky 10% service charge). A nice walk home with plenty of photos on the beach and a Nutella Crepe each and then to bed…..and that’s when things took a nasty turn.
