Day 18 - Las Vegas Day 2
Mel still ill so left her in bed, went to a lovely cafe Caffè Bottega off the Tuscany syites hotel about a mile off the strip from a TripAdvisor recommendation, sat and had a coffee and a sausage muffin type thing. Then walked back to The Stage Door as I googled the cheapest drinks in Vegas! Drinks were 2 dollars a bottle..but I gambled $40 and lost it all on Blackjack. Oopsie. Walked to the Flamingo Hotel chain and into their beautiful gardens, Mel came to me and we shared Tacos and a very large sweetcorn, it also turned into gappy hour so we had 3 pints and 3 frozen Daiquiri’s. Even at happy hour prices this turned into a $110 (shared) lunch. Vegas is the most expensive place I have ever been to bar none. Including Norway. Most prices on the strip are around 12 - 15 dollars per beer - not even pints. Cocktails can be in excess of 20 dollars. Plus 20% tips. Ouch. Went to see a magic show after that that took ages to find in the searing heat but just about managed it. Never seen a live magic show, was amazing! 20 dollars each which was good value.
Mel felt lousy and went to bed soon after this so I had a wander and picked us both up some Dave’s Hot Chicken for the room. She had mild chicken tenders and I had extra hot chicken sliders. Was beautiful. Watched a film and fell asleep. Walked about 20 miles again today.
