Gave Mel a lie in because she hasn’t slept enough this holiday. Walked to try and sort discounted Beatles Love Cirque de Soleil tickets for later as we couldn’t book last night - credit card issues as per, went to The Mirage Hotel, box office shut and prices back up to full price so left it. Wandered to The Venetian Hotel - stunning place, St Marks Square in Venice replicated with Gondolas and all sorts. Incredible. Went off TripAdvisor advice for breakfast at PrimeBurger in the Venetian - shit name, lovely food. Scrambled eggs with sausages, toast and unlimited coffee for the bargain price of $24. Told Mel to find us a pool spot when she left her pit of doom. She stated Flamingo’s sounded a safe bet, so I went to meet her there. They wanted $120 for the sunbed with a minimum spend of $200 on waitress bill. We put towels down instead. Wow - what a cracking day and pool party! Full on DJ and pint cans of Heineken for $10 which is respectable for Vegas prices - or maybe I have lost my mind by this point. We both loved it and saw some hilarious sights and dancers as shown in the video below. About 24 pints later we thought we had better leave as the sun was setting and we were losing our faculties. Headed to the room to shower and get ready then exited right on the strip for a change, headed to a place near treasure Island called Gilley’s saloon, fun place, got a couple of beers and I had a couple of line dancing lessons…I thought I was ace. Mel bottled it and watched me, laughing heartily with my every Grapevine & Weave. We then went to the bar next door to have some food, I had a bowl of chilli (again) and Mel had pork sliders and Mr Mash covered in cheese to bring her round. We staggered out of there to see the sights of the Venetian - Mel blew $20 dollars on the bandits…it lasted a good 30 minutes to steal all of her money so she felt she got her money’s worth. We then walked to see the fountains of Bellagio for Mel’s first time and then home…..totalled another 22 miles today. And suspect my face and shoulders are burning.
