Woke with slightly banging head in excitement for the cooking class pick up at 8:30am yay! Slightly apprehensive about this as cooking isn’t my forte….Mel was very excited though. Pick up was prompt and first step was to the local market to talk through the various delicacies on offer. Met the cooking teacher who was a very funny guy and again reminded us of Mr Chow from the Hangover movies! 20 minute drive to “Grandma’s Cooking School” and what oʻan amazing place! Like a spa retreat for foodies….the gardens are sublime and lots of separate areas for locally grown produce, was shown around and then we put our aprons on and got cooking. Choices were : red / green / massaman curry or Khao Soi. I Chose red curry and Mel the Massaman. Starters choice was hot and sour soup for me and some kind of coconut milk based soup for Mel. There was also a Pad Thai in the middle and Mango sticky rice at the end. Instructions were really straight forward and it was way easier than I thought. The food that we both produced was absolutely divine. Not sure what the fuss is with these chefs, it seems pretty straightforward, haha. Another brilliant day and highly recommended…and at £23 each including all food, drinks, transport and hotel pick up it is an absolute steal. Had a Thai massage in the afternoon (by a bloke which I didn’t feel totally comfortable with but close your eyes and imagine) and Mel had an essential oils massage both for an hour and for the Grand total of about £15 for both. I didn’t realise the body could get into the shapes I did….feel like I have been stretched about 3 inches and beaten up. Walked to a bar for a beer in the Thapae wall are and then to Ugo restaurant and had a dirty meal of cheeseburger and chips for Mel and meat feast pizza and chips for me. Bed at 9pm beyond shattered.
