Started the day with 2 more imodiums - total now 6 as we have a full day James Bond island trip ahead of us with a 7:30am pick up at our hotel - starting with a 2 hour drive to the northern port. I feel awful still and exceptionally nervous about this journey but it passes without incident thankfully. So glad we came - the whole trip was fantastic, starting with sea canoes around Talu Island area with caves and mangroves and the nicest Thai guide! He was amazing and a very creative photographer! Then on to Khao Phing Kan or “James Bond Island” as immortalised in the movie “The Man With The Golden Gun”. The island was rammed with tourists and was much smaller that it seems in the movie. We recreated the film scenes to the best of our poor ability haha. Then we headed by Long tail boat to the Muslim gypsy island “Pan Yee” for a visit to the homes and wares of the 1600 inhabitants. Buffet lunch was included here but not for me. Mel had fried chicken and other tit bits like fried rice, soups, curries, etc. It was a very interesting place but I did wonder what they did with all the human waste etc? Straight to sea I imagine. We then had a one hour drive to a temple and to see some monkeys but I was really flagging by now…and still a 2 hour journey back to go. Made it back and decided to give it a go and leave the room..tried a beer at a local bar, and then ventured onto Bangla Road - the most infamous mad street in Phuket. Amazing experience just to people watch from a couple of bars here….you see all sorts of debauchery and shenanigans but when in Rome. Spent about an hour and a half and headed back, tried a burger at a local Scandinavian restaurant, was only small but couldn’t manage it…Mel had the same and said it was lovely. Fell into bed and hoped for a quiet night.
