Croatia 2025 - Day 6
Up for gym as sprightly as ever at around 8am then we headed for breakfast for 8:40. Went around the pool this morning and read and swam and read and swam. Mel lounged reading her book. 6 days in, and she is yet to touch any water (apart from a shower). Decided to have a day session today as it is the weekend after all. Got all spruced up and got the 12pm ferry to Sibenik via a couple of islands so the journey was around an hour. Very scenic though. I had mapped out a few bars starting with a craft ale bar around 1.2 km out of town. Didn’t account for the weather being low 30’s though. And Mel in a full black dress. And said walk being up the side of a hill akin to Mow Cop. So we sacked it off halfway up with Mel very sweaty and sweary. Headed into the old town for a pint and Mel was straight into the Aperol Spritz, which was a bit worrying at 1pm… more worrying was the 10 euro price tag for every one though. Tried and tested a fair few bars and persuaded Mel to mix it up to white wine which was a more respectable 2 to 3 euros a glass of local vino and was very good. Soaked it up with a couple of burgers mid afternoon and headed for the beach front to chill and spot some of the truly incredible superyachts lining the harbour. Then there was the annual Sibenik medieval festival on with was re-enactments and cannons going off with truly deafening booms - simulating a pirate ship coming in and gun fights and all sorts. An amazing spectacle overall. Finished off with a couple of G and T’s in the square and an Uber back for 15 euros. A lovely day.
